This week LCiL is proud to be supporting the Mental Health Foundation and Mental health Awareness Week. This year’s theme of anxiety was chosen to help “kickstart a nationwide conversation where we all encourage people to share their own experiences and any ideas on how they manage anxiety.” Anxiety is a common emotion that everyone will have experienced at some time in their life. If you are unhappy with the decision about your ADP, you can ask for a redetermination. This means that Social Security Scotland will look at your case again. You can ask for a redetermination within 31 days of receiving the decision letter. To ask for a redetermination, you need to fill in a form and send it to Social Security Scotland. You can find the form on the Social Security Scotland website. If you are unable to fill in the form yourself, you can get help from a friend, family member, or professional.

Adult Disability Payment (ADP) is a benefit in Scotland that replaced Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for adults. It is a non-means-tested benefit, which means that your income and savings do not affect how much you receive. To be eligible for ADP, you must have a disability or long-term health condition that affects your ability to do everyday activities. You will also need to be aged 16 or over and live in Scotland.
