Adult Disability Payment – Reconsiderations & Appeals

If you are unhappy with the decision about your ADP, you can ask for a redetermination. This means that Social Security Scotland will look at your case again. You can ask for a redetermination within 31 days of receiving the decision letter. To ask for a redetermination, you need to fill in a form and send it to Social Security Scotland. You can find the form on the Social Security Scotland website. If you are unable to fill in the form yourself, you can get help from a friend, family member, or professional.

What is Adult Disability Payment?

Adult Disability Payment (ADP) is a benefit in Scotland that replaced Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for adults. It is a non-means-tested benefit, which means that your income and savings do not affect how much you receive. To be eligible for ADP, you must have a disability or long-term health condition that affects your ability to do everyday activities. You will also need to be aged 16 or over and live in Scotland.
