Launch of Self-Directed Support user guides Minister with Emma and Robert

The Social Care (self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act came into force in Scotland on the 1st of April. To celebrate the launch of this landmark legislation LCiL in partnership with the Scottish Government hosted a national reception on this day.  You can watch the event as it was filmed and broadcast live on our website at this webpage: https://www.lothiancil.org.uk/get-involved-with-lothian-cil/makesdswork/

SDS support and resources:
Some of the most useful resources on SDS were available for use on the 1st of April during the event and links to them can be found below:

The guidance and regulations to accompany the SDS Act can be found on our E-library within the Self-directed Support section.

Here you will also find the user guides which explain the guidance in more straightforward terms for service users, carers and practitioners.  Each guide also has a complementing user friendly App for people to use on their smart phones and other devices so they can get to grips with self-directed support.  Each one can be found and downloaded from this link: http://guidance.selfdirectedsupportscotland.org.uk/

Use of social media #makeSDSworkEvent Keith & Minister

On the run up to the 1st of April we launched an online campaign called #makeSDSwork and heard from people across Scotland via our Twitter page @LothianCIL on how they hope SDS will work for them.  Some of our LCiL champions got involved and tweeted their comments and hopes which you can read here: https://www.lothiancil.org.uk/get-involved-with-lothian-cil/makesdswork/

We’re still monitoring social media and tweets using the hashtag #makeSDSwork so be sure to use it when you post your comments so we can link to you.

LCiL can work with you on all aspects of SDS.  To find out more click here: https://www.lothiancil.org.uk/about-lothian-cil/
