The SDS Team run peer support groups and workshops for both disabled people and people living with long term conditions, and parent carers. Through peer supports sessions for parent carers that we run with VOCAL, we have seen that parent carers – and disabled young people themselves – often find the transition into adulthood particularly difficult. This has often been made more challenging by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a lack of services in place. Because of this, we decided to invite some guest speakers to join our Champions for an information session on the evening of 12th May.

The SDS Team are delighted to announce an opportunity for volunteers to apply to participate in an upcoming three week training programme to be trained as Volunteer Peer Co-Facilitators. This programme will, through a series of face to face training sessions, aim to give successful applicants the skills and information they need to succeed as volunteer Peer Support Co-Facilitators within the team at LCiL.

While the Scottish Government had hoped that all payments would be made in the current financial year (2020-2021) it is now apparent that this will most likely be delayed as there are still questions around how the administration of the payments will be managed.
