Rate of pay £15 per hour. Hours starting at four per week but could rise to 8.5 per week, depending on circumstances.
We are looking for a personal assistant (PA) to provide companionship and support to a young man (18 years) who has a mild learning disability. We are looking for someone who will support him with his current interests which are football, video games and ice hockey. The PA must have a knowledge and understanding of youth culture. The PA would be expected to join in physical activities when required and also support him to become more independent in everyday tasks and develop skills for independent living. We would also like the PA to be pro-active in suggesting new activities or places to visit.
Ideally you will have had some experience of dealing with people with learning disabilities. Whilst this young man does have a learning disability he is still very capable but lacks the confidence to go out and about in the community on his own. He would like someone that can help him build his confidence and also support him with independent travel.
Currently the young man attends college for part of the week and therefore we are looking for someone with availability on a Monday, at the weekends and/or evenings. A degree of flexibility would be required.
