The United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities
What does it mean for you?

The United Nations Convention on the rights of People with Disabilities (UNCRPD) is a new international human rights agreement that is meant to:

  • recognise that we are all equal. Disabled people have the same rights as everyone else to freedom, respect, equality and dignity
  • bring together all our basic human rights in one place
  • describe what government has agreed to do to make these rights real

The Equality and Human Rights Commission has provided guides to the UNCRPD in a variety of accessible formats.
