Important Update – Independent Living Fund Scotland

Published: July 7, 2015

Since 1988, the Independent Living Fund (ILF) provided financial support to disabled people, predominantly to allow them to pay for carers and live independently at home, rather than in residential care.

On June 30 2015, the Independent Living Fund in England was closed.  ILF Scotland has been created to protect the current funding for recipients in Scotland.

From July 1st 2015, as long as the recipients remain eligible, Scottish and Northern Irish Independent Living Fund service users’ awards will continue to be paid by ILF Scotland.
