I am a 28-year-old female, and I live with my cat and tortoise. I am looking for someone to support me in managing everyday life with autism and a mental health condition. I enjoy spending time in nature and have an interest in music, films, gardening and ceramics, but I also enjoy exploring new hobbies and places.
I am looking for a warm, approachable, reliable and diligent person to support and accompany me with a range of everyday tasks and activities. The role involves helping me with practical everyday tasks, including shopping, managing appointments, managing medication and household tasks and maintenance, as well as accompanying me on outings and activities. I want my Personal Assistant to feel confident supporting me on both good days and more challenging ones, offering encouragement, understanding and practical help when needed. It is also important to me to find someone who can help me become more independent and feel more comfortable and confident when I’m out and about.
Good communication is particularly important to me. I appreciate being kept informed about changes to plans and prefer someone who will communicate clearly and openly rather than leaving me unsure about what is happening.
Essential qualities of the person I am looking for:
- Friendly, approachable and easy to get along with.
- Reliable, punctual and dependable.
- A good communicator and, importantly, a good listener.
- Patient, respectful and non-judgemental.
- An understanding of person-centred support.
- Happy to ask questions rather than make assumptions about what I need.
- Able to follow instructions while also using their own initiative when appropriate.
- Flexible and able to adapt when plans change.
- Trustworthy and discreet.
- Experience supporting someone with autism and mental health needs.
- Comfortable around cats.
- You must be PVG registered or willing to take registration.
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable qualities for the successful applicant to have:
- Good organizational skills.
- Confidence accompanying me on outings and activities.
- A willingness to learn about my individual needs and preferences.
- Someone with a good sense of humour and a positive attitude.
- Advocacy skills
- Enjoys a challenge
Working hours and rate of pay:
This is a 17-hour post, covering Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The hours will be shared between two PAs and are flexible.
The hourly rate of pay is £13.65
