I am looking for a PA to help support me with my children who have autism. I am a stay-at- home parent and need someone to work alongside me to help with daily routines, especially in the morning with getting ready for school and after school. Although I have two children, they both have different needs, and this role is to support my son.
My son is an amazing and lovely boy who enjoys being out in the world and is very creative. He loves colouring in, painting, messy play, cooking and music. He enjoys being out and about in the community visiting local shops, especially shopping for fruit and vegetables, and also loves visiting museums. The role will also include daily personal care and domestic tasks to ensure his needs are met.
My son is not fully verbal and has limited speech, I will be on hand to support you to get to know and understand the ways in which he communicates. Although he is aware of danger he is not always able to keep himself safe and he needs careful supervision outside. My son has a limited diet and is sensitive to the smell and touch of unfamiliar food. It is important that he feels safe in his environment and routines are maintained.
He would benefit from someone who is calm and patient and who encourages him to develop life skills. The ideal applicant would be someone who has proven they are reliable, trustworthy and punctual and ideally has experience working with children with special needs. As this position will require close working on a one-to-one basis, it is important that we can maintain an open, honest and trusting relationship.
PVG Requirement
Due to the nature of the role, the successful applicant must be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or be willing to join the scheme.
