We’re currently looking for someone to help support our 9 year old son in Tranent. He’s disabled after a cancer diagnosis and brain injury when he was 3. He’s in mainstream school, uses a walking frame/wheelchair to get around and sometimes has delay processing information but he’s independent for a lot of day-to-day tasks. He’s also an absolute character! Loves doing all the usual things a child does at that age-cinema, swimming, parks, days out. He mainly needs assistance getting in and out his walker/wheelchair and assistance with toileting.
We’re looking to employ someone for 3-4 hours at a weekend and for 7-8 hours a week during any school holidays. We’re really just looking for someone to take him out to do fun stuff so that we can get a bit of a break and so that my husband and I can spend some time with our other two sons. The person needs to be reliable, be able to interact with kids and most of all a good sense of humour.
Driving is preferable but not essential. It is essential that you are a member of the protection for vulnerable groups (PVG) scheme or willing to join.
Rate of pay is £12 per hour plus 5.6 weeks paid holiday per year (pro rata).
