We are looking for someone to join our excellent team on an ad-hoc basis to support a 10 year-old with learning disabilities and provide occasional support for his 6 year old younger brother (who does not have a learning disability).
This is an excellent opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention Team (including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and physiotherapy). The main part of the post is to support a young 10-year-old boy to pursue his hobbies/interests and provide support with learning and communication through play therapy. Direction will be given by parents and full training will be provided on the job.
Applicant will support child using different learning strategies and communication devices (proloquo2go). Opportunities will also be provided to develop skills in using a range of different tools and techniques.
- Duties will include supporting the individual to undertake a variety of social, learning, toileting and physio activities. You may very occasional be asked to carry out light domestic duties, such as tidying toys and tidying 10 year old’s bedroom.
- Experience of working with children with learning difficulties would be beneficial. Although you will be working with various professionals, you will report directly to parents and have weekly updates on progress.
- The post holder will also be expected to support with personal care.
This post is suited to someone that is reliable, kind, uses initiative and is trustworthy and willing to learn on the job. We looking for someone who is flexible – but at the same time we work with you around your schedule. Below 15 hours per week so post is suitable for University students.
This is a permanent role and looking for someone that can commit for more than a year.
