Feniks – supporting Eastern European communities in Edinburgh

Published: February 23, 2016

Feniks is a charity supporting Central Eastern European communities in Edinburgh. Currently, they have two interesting projects:

1. Leith Conversation Cafés
Sessions on Monday mornings, Monday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Click here to view details on their website

The conversations are an opportunity for people who have moved here from overseas to:

  • meet others they might not usually meet
  • expand their language skills
  • share stories, experiences and ideas
  • develop new insights
  • build friendships
  • gain confidence
  • learn about their local area
  • and feel more at home in Leith

2. Polish Community Champions
They are also currently recruiting Polish Community Champions who would like to learn more about mental health and share their knowledge within the Polish Community.
This project is funded by See Me Scotland and it aims at tackling mental health stigma and discrimination; and increase an uptake of Polish people in support services. To find out more, please contact Barbara at barbara.wesolowska@feniks.org.uk.
