Training AimsLCIL was set up by and for disabled people. Our training is designed to take into account Disabled Peoples' access issues as far as possible. We offer PA assistance on the day and information is available in a range of formats such as Large Print, Easy to understand/picture supported and on tape. The courses offered cover a wide range from sessions on self advocacy and self esteem to practical skills and knowledge required to become a PA employer. Read more about our Training Aims here. Training Courses- Living Choices - This is a series of linked sessions covering Independent Living/Direct Payments topics, from an Intro to Disability Equality Training to recruiting staff and the responsibilities of being an Employer. The sessions are designed to give you the information and practical skills you need to pursue Direct Payments and become an employer.Please note: there is no obligation to pursue Direct Payments at the end of the training session or course.
- Training for Personal Assistants (PAs) - This 2 day course is for those interested in, or already working as a PA. Day 1 offers Disability Equality Training, Day 2 explores the Role and Responsibilities of being a PA with an opportunity to ask both the PA and PA employer relevant questions. Participants who complete both days will be awarded a certificate of attendance.
- Short Workshops - Run over 2 half-days, these offer personal development style training opportunities on topics such as Self Advocacy, Assertiveness, Self Esteem, Communication skills, as well as PA employer skills such as Staff Appraisal, Health & Safety, Being a Good Boss etc.
- Other Training - LCIL are able to offer tailored training options on Independent Living Issues, Direct Payments and Disability Equality Training, delivered by experienced disabled trainers to other organisations for a very reasonable fee!
