A young man in his thirties, with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is looking for support from an individual who can help him to find and engage with new hobbies, interests and experiences. This would be out with the home as much as possible.
He loves to play video games, but it is essential for him to be supported to find new interests. A shared interest in history would be beneficial to support with building a relationship with the young man, and perhaps a good starting point to help him find new interests out with the home.
We are looking for someone who is kind, understanding and compassionate. Someone who can support the young man to step out of his comfort zone with confidence and reassurance. You would be expected to research and suggest potential activities for the young man and support him to engage with these as fully as he can.
We are looking for a PA who can support the young man to engage appropriately with the wider world. You will be expected to take the young man on outings and may occasionally need to make judgement on and correct inappropriate behavior. A sense of humor is essential, and a love of penguins is a benefit. You will be expected to build a relationship based on good communication and mutual respect with the young man.
This position will initially consist of 4 hours per shift, 1 or 2 times per week with the potential to increase hours as the young man become comfortable with the relationship with a PA. It would be possible for the role to be shared among 2 individuals. The rate of pay will be £14.82
Although a driving license and access to a vehicle would be beneficial, it is hoped as part of this role to support the young man to take public transport.
You must be a member of the PVG scheme or willing to join. From April 2025 membership to the scheme is mandatory for those working as a PA.
