I am looking for a PA to help support me with my two children who have autism. I am a stay-at- home parent and need someone to work alongside me to help with the children’s daily routines, especially in the morning with getting ready for school and after school routines. Although both children have autism they have quite different needs, and require different assistance, so you will be working alongside me to support them.
The role will include personal care, household, and social tasks as well as supporting them in their daily play. I’m hoping the PA will develop a trusting relationship with the children and support them to grow their confidence and try new activities. It is vital that the successful applicant has excellent communication and listening skills, and that we can work together. It is important that the children feel safe and secure in their routines and they are surrounded by a calm environment.
The successful applicant must be friendly, good with children and enjoy working with them. As both children have autism and have different needs, patience and persistence are key to this supporting role. The ideal applicant would be someone who has proven they are reliable, trustworthy and punctual and ideally has experience working with children with special needs. It is important that all applicants are aware of, and sensitive to, the needs of the parent and those of the children. As this position will require close working on a one-to-one basis, it is important that the employer and employee can maintain an open, honest and trusting relationship.
PVG Requirement
Due to the nature of the role, the successful applicant must be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or be willing to join the scheme.
Location: Penicuik
Pay: £13.95 per hour
Hours: Flexible, minimum 12 hours per week, additional hours may be available.
