Overview Advert:

Female personal assistant for good natured happy woman living at home with her husband. Looking for weekend support on Saturdays & Sundays and possible holiday cover for her other carer. This would include support at home and going out into the community.

Brief Description:

The lady has an acquired brain injury and struggles with communication. Looking for someone who is friendly and approachable with patience and empathy. She uses a wheelchair when out and about and a stick/ tripod when at home. She would need assistance with toileting and can eat/ drink independently. The aim of the support is to provide rest bite for her husband. The support would include going out and about in the community and preparing and making meals with her at home.

Hours and rate of pay:

Saturday & Sunday weekly for 4-5 hours (times can be discussed), possible holiday cover hours may be available. The rate of pay is £12 per hour.

Person specification

• Have patience & understanding to give time and space for the lady to communicate
• Honest, reliable and easy going
• Female applicants only
• Trustworthy and respectful
• Preferrable if you have a car to go out into the community
• Some experience working with brain injury and speech difficulty would be desirable but not essential
• Post would be perfect for someone training in SLT
