I am looking for a personal assistant to support my 8-year-old son who has autism and learning difficulties.
They are cheeky, full of energy and love being outside. They love going to the park, going swimming, jumping, climbing and going to The Yard. They’re the happiest little boy and a joy to be around. They’re non-verbal but full of life and enjoy going out in the car, being in their wheelchair or if they have their harness on, happy to walk. But they do need to be supervised at all times due to having no sense of danger and will run if given the opportunity to do so.
This is a permanent role and we’re looking for someone who can hopefully commit for many years.
Key Responsibilities –
- Provide a safe and engaging support during activities (swimming, going to the park/the yard, walks)
- Support and understand communicatation
- Assist with mobility, ensuring safety while using wheelchair or harness
- Work along with family to ensure needs are met
- Be patient, understanding and reliable
- Assist with personal care
- The boy’s mum will provide training and all the information you need in order to support their son
Essential Requirements
- Must be a driver with access to car (petrol will be covered)
- Member of the PVG Scheme or willing to join
- Experience working with children who has additional needs
Hours and Pay
- 4 hours a week standard and 8 hours a week during school holidays
- £12.87 an hour
- Hours will be for over the weekend, preferably a Saturday but I am happy to adjust that to any day for the right person.
