I am looking for a friendly Personal Assistant to support a 16-year-old with Down syndrome and Autism over school breaks.  She is passionate about art, music and dancing and has a lovely, endearing little personality with a great sense of humour. This role is to support her in independence through a variety of tasks, such as socialisation and going out in the community.

 

The Personal Assistance will spend time individually with her, alongside assistance from the family. My daughter sometimes finds it hard to communicate what she needs, and therefore it is vital to have excellent communication and listening skills.

 

I am looking for a Personal Assistant who is approachable with a good sense of humour. They must be reliable, friendly and easy going. As a Personal Assistant is required to work one-to one, it is important that the employer and employee maintain an open and honest relationship.

 

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Social tasks, such as going to the cinema, interacting with other people, building her confidence, going out for walks, assistance with art projects, and assistance with other leisure activities e.g. board-games, baking, music, dancing and playing.

 

  • Personal tasks, such as assistance in dressing and undressing

 

  • Independent living skills, such as travelling safely.

 

 

The rate of pay is £12.60 

The post is for 10 hours per week and the shifts will be TBC

 

It is essential that the postholder is a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme or is willing to join.
