SUMMARY:Edinburgh SDS Carers Connect: Connecting Communities to Care
DESCRIPTION:About this event\nOur peer group and information sessions empower and support people\, encouraging connection and community through shared experiences\, which help reduce isolation. They offer a safe space to share thoughts and experiences of Social Care and in particular Self-Directed Support (SDS). \nThe sessions are welcoming\, relaxed and informal. Bringing people together to discuss the aspects of SDS that matter to them. \nWho can attend?\n\nBlack Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Carers\n\nWho live in Edinburgh and are: \n\nInterested in learning more about social care\nAre currently accessing or interested in accessing social care\n\n  \nWhat you need to know:\nThis group will take place in The Prentice Centre\, 1 Granton Mains Ave\, Edinburgh EH4 4GA. Access around the centre and bathrooms is all step-free. \n  \nA member of staff from The Action Group will be in attendance. \n  \nWe can arrange an interpreter for you\, should this be required. Please contact the Peer Support and Learning Team if this will be the case. \n  \nFrom 12.00 to 12.45pm\, a buffet with a selection of sweet and savoury items are provided for lunch. \n  \nIf you require personal care/support with moving while attending an in-person event\, please bring along a PA/carer with you\, as staff are not able to support you in this way. \n  \nWhy attend?\n\nMeet other people who want to discuss and share knowledge around accessing social care\nExplore ideas and opportunities around support\nFind out practical information and resources about SDS\nImprove your understanding and confidence in managing self-directed support (SDS) and social care planning\n\n  \nHow do I register for this event? \nBy emailing PSL@lothiancil.org.uk or calling 0131 475 2350\, where one of the Peer Support and Learning Facilitators will complete the registration process with you. Please note we have a limited number of spaces available for this event. \n  \nWe require registration by  Thursday 18th July at 12 noon. DESCRIPTION:About this event\nThe Peer Support and Learning Team is providing a safe space for Black\, Asian\, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Carers to meet\, share experiences\, support each other and talk about what’s important to them in regard to accessing social care.
