DESCRIPTION:Event details:\nThe event is on Wednesday 26th March\, and will run from 11am-1:30pm.  We welcome you to join from 10:45am\, so the session can start at 11am.  \nThis group will take place in the Arts and Crafts room\, Fisherrow Centre\, South Street\, Musselburgh\, EH21 6AT. \nAccess into the room\, the Fisherrow Centre\, and disabled bathrooms is all step-free. \nFrom 12:30pm\, a buffet with a selection of sweet and savoury items are provided for lunch. \nFind more information about accessibility at our peer support groups here \nAbout this event\nOur peer support groups provide a space to share experiences and knowledge around Self-Directed Support (SDS). Through meaningful connections with others who understand your experiences\, you will find a space to share\, learn\, and feel listened to. \nThe sessions are welcoming\, relaxed and informal. Bringing people together to discuss the aspects of SDS that matter to them. We encourage mutual understanding and acceptance through the sharing of lived experiences. \nWe aim to increase understanding around Self-Directed Support\, enabling you to make informed decisions about social care. \nWhat is peer support?\nFocussed on collective knowledge and collaboration\, peer support groups provide a space for people to share their experiences\, feelings\, and knowledge with others who can understand. \nPeers are those with similar lived experiences who can understand and offer support. \nPeer support groups create an environment that uses collective knowledge\, lived experience\, and a mutual approach to build awareness and knowledge. The relationships and community built through peer support groups can also offer emotional and practical support. \n  \nWho can attend\nDisabled people\nPeople with long-term conditions\nOlder people\n\nWho live in East Lothian and are: \n\nInterested in learning more about Self-Directed Support\nAre currently accessing or interested in accessing Self-Directed Support\n\n\n  \nWhy attend\nMeet other people who want to discuss and share knowledge around accessing Self-Directed Support\nFind a community of people with similar lived experiences\n\n\nFind out practical information and resources about SDS\nImprove your understanding and confidence in managing all aspects of SDS\n\n\n  \nHow to register for this event\nEmail PSL@lothiancil.org.uk\nCall 0131 475 2350\,\n\nWe require registration by (19th March).
