Training for Personal Assistants (T4PAs)
When funding is available, LCiL run a series of training courses for Personal Assistants or those who are thinking about becoming Personal Assistants throughout the year. These are now accredited by ILA (Individual Learning Account) Scotland!
The topics covered in Training for PAs include:
- Disability and Equality – cultural representations of disabled people and barriers faced by disabled people
- Social Model of Disability – and how to apply the principles in your PA role
- Understanding the importance of appropriate language
- Exploring roles and relationships
- Knowing the Relationship Boundaries
- Exploring potential dilemmas
- Responding to Your Employer’s Needs

New one day Refresher Training for Personal Assistants (T4PAs)
This refresher one day training courses is exclusively for Existing
Personal Assistants who have previously attended the two days T4PA Course.
The topics covered include:
- develop participants’ understanding of disability as an equality issue (including an exploration of up to date perceptions and perspectives of disability)
- and look in more depth at areas such as the difference between a PA and a carer,
- Confidentiality for PAs, Relationship Boundaries, Dilemmas, Worries and Concerns that PAs may have and explore ideas how they can feel more supported when being a PA.
