Job reference: PJ CG

Area: City of Edinburgh
Working pattern: Part-time
Closing date: October 5, 2021
Rate of pay: £10.25 per hour

I am a 31 year old autistic non-binary adult.  I live with a complex mix of physical and mental health issues. These result in varying degrees of impairment and challenge from day to day. My energy level fluctuates accordingly. I require some assistance to manage some aspects of my daily life in order to be able to thrive.

I am looking for two personal assistants who can assist me with some practical tasks both at home and in the community.

The Posts:

One post is to work with me Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 3pm till 5pm while the second post covers shifts on Friday & Sunday 4pm till 6pm. Start and finish time may be negotiated.  Your role will involve helping me by preparing my main meal in the evening, carrying out light domestic tasks, assisting me with medical appointments and accompanying me shopping.

Hourly rate of pay: £10.25 per hour.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will preferably have experience in autism and physical disability, or at least have a willingness to learn. It is essential that candidates are open-minded, non-judgemental and able to demonstrate understanding and compassion.

You will be confident, warm and friendly, reliable and organised, equally able to take instruction and to work on your own initiative, once familiarised with my routines.

You will be a keen cook, have good hygiene standards and kitchen skills, with the ability to work cleanly and efficiently. Additional hours may be occasionally available in the event that the other Personal Assistant is on annual or sick leave.

Non-smoker preferred as I am sensitive to the smell of tobacco.

A car driver with a clean driving licence would be an advantage.

You will be required to have PVG membership or a willingness to apply for it. Cost will be covered.
