Job reference: AP IMC

Area: City of Edinburgh
Working pattern: Part-time
Closing date: May 31, 2024
Rate of pay: £13 per hour

You would be working several times a week for 2–3-hour periods at a rate of £13 an hour from either 2-5pm or 7-9pm but these timings are flexible.

I have problems with my breathing, eyesight and mobility and am currently wheelchair-bound. I also have quite severe allergies to proteins both in foodstuffs and pet hair (for this reason it is advisable not to apply for this job if you have pets at home).

My PAs help me with gardening, cleaning, cooking and practical tasks such as sorting out my books and papers (I am qualified as a Teacher, Psychologist and Psychotherapist although my PhD is in Anthropology).

You need to be fairly organised, computer literate, and your English needs to be of university entrance standard. Some experience of personal care would be an advantage although this need not be complex. Most importantly, you need to have good empathic listening skills as we will be working closely with one another.

As I live within a 10-minute walk from the George Square campus and Edinburgh College of Art this job can fit in well with a student timetable or someone with flexible working hours based in this area.
