Personal assistant required to provide support and assistance to young adult with autism, anxiety and type 1 diabetes, to assist mainly with social tasks and support with diabetes. They require support and encouragement to pursue their interests, which include baking, arts and crafts, shopping and playing games based on the TV programmes The Walking Dead and Supernatural. Tasks could also include watching TV/YouTube and chatting.
Hours: 2-3 hours per week and the hourly rate is £10.90. There could be the possibility of occasional increased hours or overnight trips away by mutual agreement to attend Comic Con, concerts or similar events.
Shifts: worked during the day. Shifts could be flexible by mutual agreement.
Essential criteria: patient, punctual, reliable, honest, enthusiastic and must respect employer’s confidentiality at all times.
It would be an advantage, but not essential, if the post holder has some understanding, experience and knowledge of working with someone with autism. Training in diabetes support will be given.
The post is subject to a successful PVG Scheme check and if you are not a member you will be asked to join before a formal offer could be made.
