Job reference: MR WN EL

Area: East Lothian
Working pattern: Part-time
Closing date: Open
Rate of pay: £10 per hour

I am a young disabled woman with learning disabilities, epilepsy and autism and I live in my own tenancy in Musselburgh.

I want to build up a team of support workers to help me improve my independence skills, make friends, find things to do, and re-engage with the world.
My mother coordinates and manages the care package but I like to make my own choices.
It’s important the support workers really understand autism and how that makes things difficult sometimes.
My epilepsy has been stable for a long time but it would be good you have Epilepsy awareness training but, if not, be willing to attend training
There would be a paid probationary period and shadow shifts so we can work out if we get along with each other.
I like to follow routines and don’t like change so having a support worker who would like to stay for a while is really important to me.
I have a Blue Badge and would need you to have your own car, a clean full driving licence valid in the UK. I would pay mileage.
I do have some days when I prefer to be quiet ,stay home and relax but I really enjoy going to cafes, cinema, dancing, knitting, healthy cooking, bowling, music and watching dvds in the evening. I am looking for someone who is keen to get out and about.
Visiting friends and meeting up with them to do things together is important to me.
I need someone to work alongside me to keep my flat clean, do laundry, shop and cook.
I am happy to consider someone even if they can only do one shift and can possibly negotiate some flexibility over school holidays.

Day shifts available are:

Tuesday 9.30am to 4 30pm
