Penicuik mum looking for two personal assistants (PA) to support children with special needs. Looking for one PA to support each child. Each child has different needs. They are very active but unaware of danger so need constant supervision.
The job will involve taking each child out or playing with them at home as well as supporting them to eat. Things the children enjoy include swimming, soft play, gymnastics, going to the park and shopping.
Both children are non-verbal so the postholder will need to have the ability to learn how to communicate with the children, eg use PEC cards.
It would be useful if the PA has a full driving license valid in the UK and willing to use their own car at work, although this isn’t essential. It would be preferable if PA have experience of working with children with autism and learning disability. There will be some personal care tasks so one post is female only.
It is essential that the postholder be a member of the protection of vulnerable groups (PVG) scheme or willing to join.
The rate of pay is £11.31 per hour, although this is likely to increase in the near future.
Each post will be four hours per week during school time preferably at the weekend or Friday. This will be two shifts of two hours each. Times and days to be negotiated. During the 14 weeks of school holidays the post will be ten hours per week.
