A 35 year old man with MS, living in the west of Edinburgh, is putting together a team of personal assistants, to help him with personal care, domestic and social support and to live independently in his own home.
The employer was diagnosed with MS over 5 years ago and now cannot weight bear and uses a wheelchair. He is moving in to his own tenancy in the Sighthill area, away from the family home.
The team will cover support 24/7 on a rota basis, and you may be asked to provide cover for holidays and sickness. Please indicate your availability and preferred days and times on the application form.
It is important to say that he is a smoker.
He is mentally very able and is very computer orientated. He will require assistance with all aspects of daily living, including the use of a hoist. (Training will be given).
He has an excellent sense of humour and appreciates when others do too. He enjoys most kinds of music from AC/DC to classical.
Previous experience supporting someone with a disability is preferred. However, it is most important that you are a caring person with good communication and listening skills and who would be most concerned with the safety and happiness of your employer.
You must be reliable, trustworthy and punctual, in order that his daily routine runs smoothly.
Post is subject to references and you may be required to join the PVG scheme.
Expected start date is September. Interviews will take place remotely, over Zoom, due to the current pandemic.
Rate of pay: £9.46 day hours; £9.00 overnight hours.
