I am a man in his early 50s who experienced a stroke some years ago. This has led to my using a wheelchair. I am looking for a Personal Assistant to support me in regaining my confidence and getting out of the house to reengage with social activities and leisure activities. You will also be expected to support me with administrative duties such as applying for a Blue Badge, making appointments, and so on. It is therefore necessary for you to be experienced with a computer and able to navigate or learn how to use online systems and processes.
The role will be for 21 hours per week, days and time are negotiable. The rate of pay will be £11.29 per hour.
I act as carer for my mother and so some of your duties will include supporting me to maintain this role. For example helping to arrange appointments and supporting me with administrative tasks similar to those above for my mother.
I am looking for someone with excellent listening and communication skills. I have difficulties with my speech following a stroke. It is therefore essential that you are patient and compassionate, willing to take the time needed to understand my wishes and instructions.
I would be more comfortable with a mature PA, however this should not deter applications from younger people as a mature attitude, reliability and understanding are the most important characteristics.
