Our place Our space. Disables people’s annual summit. Housing 2016
Accessible housing in the right place is the cornerstone of independent living for disabled people in Scotland but is it a reality for most?
We have extensive evidence directly from disabled people and across other parts of the third sector of the myriad barriers that disabled people face in finding, accessing, retaining and paying for housing which meets the needs of them and their families, within their own communities.
Independent Living in Scotland would like to invite you to the Disabled People’s Annual Summit 2016 ‘Our Place: Our Space’ to raise the profile of the housing needs of disabled people. We would like to add your perspectives to the debate alongside those of disabled people, specialist housing providers, and representatives of relevant public bodies. The event is being chaired by Pennie Taylor.
The Summit is taking place on Friday 2nd December in Glasgow at 10 am -3 pm (final venue to be confirmed).
Jeane Freeman MSP will be launching the Action Plan on Disability which we understand will set out the actions that Scottish Government will take to deliver their obligations to protect and promote disabled people’s human rights.
The report of this Summit will be presented to the Disabled People’s Ministerial Advisory Group.
