Asif Ali Khan is a young man who has faced many challenges in his life but has never let these stand in his way of achieving his dreams. As an experienced public speaker, Asif has worked with organisations including Quarriers, Enable, RNIB and Haggeye at conferences and events. He has also spoken at schools, community groups and churches.
Asif is sharing his story through the Self-Directed Support Joint Sensory Project with Deaf Action and Fife Society for the Blind, and will talk about overcoming barriers and achieving goals; Self-Directed Support and how it helps him to live an active life; and future plans.
Asif will be followed by Stuart Beveridge who is an Accessible Technology Worker from Fife Society for the Blind, and works with the SDS Joint Sensory Project as an Accessible Technology Mentor for volunteers linked to the project. Stuart will provide an introduction to smart technology for Blind/partially sighted people and how it facilitates daily life.
We are offering 3 dates to ensure that as many people are able to attend as possible, so please only book onto ONE date as the content is the same for all three.
The event is primarily open to staff from any of the 32 local authorities in Scotland, in particular people who are in a position where they provide assessments/care management or have some involvement in support planning. It is also open to staff from organisations who have been funded to provide information and support for SDS to people in any of the 32 local authorities in Scotland. However, we are keen for both Asif and Stuart to share information with as many people as we can and would like to see each of the three dates offered sell out so please share this with colleagues and contacts and please book your space.
If you book a ticket and then find you are unable to attend then please get in touch with us; cancel your ticket; or ensure that someone else from your organisation is able to take your place.
Thanks and happy booking!”
