Elderly lady in Newtongrange looking to recruit up to two personal assistants to support her with daily living tasks, including personal care and transfers.
Some experience of working with people with dementia and moving and assisting would be advantageous but not essential.
The post is for 18 hours per week, over seven days, between 7am-7pm, days and times negotiable, and the rate of pay will be £9.64 per hour.
Preferably covered by two personal assistants , but again negotiable

I am a disabled wheelchair user with a neurological condition, I am easy going with a good sense of humour and get on well with people, I enjoy watching boxsets on Netflix and Amazon, shopping for clothes, I like tattoos, and listening to music.
I am looking for new personal assistants to join my team, for part time, temporary, relief positions to cover for holidays, sickness and absence. This job is ideal for someone who can help at short notice, and wants to earn some extra money. Ideally, you should have a caring nature and be easy-going, knowing when to step back and allow me my independence and privacy.

LM WN ML: Personal Assistant for a fun young man with Cerebral Palsy
Looking for Personal Assistants to join an existing team to help Lachlan, a 28 year old young man with Cerebral Palsy. The rate is £10 per hour.
This role is part time and flexible – hours to be arranged with family.
Family home is in the countryside near Gorebridge and Vogrie Country Park, but not on a bus route. Own transport is essential.
DUTIES
Assisting with daily living – Lachlan has his own apartment within the family house, and duties may involve reading books, assisting Lachlan to choose and listen to music and TV, preparation of simple foods and snacks, and other activities.
Trips out and socialising – there is a van available for this, with ramp access. Outings to the coast/ beach, local attractions or into Edinburgh (pubs, cinema, concerts, theatre, museums, galleries, events).
Communication – Lachlan uses both low tech and high tech communication. He uses a yes/no system and he is learning to use a communication device which he operates with eye gaze (here is a YouTube link which details what this device is and does https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7_f-pR8SBY). Assistance with this would be desirable-training provided.
All Personal Care – including bathing, assisting with meals and hoist transfers.
PERSON SPEC
Team requires self-motivated individuals who are trustworthy, reliable, with lots of energy and a good sense of humour. It is essential that you be a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme or be willing to join. Some IT skills is an advantage.
There may be extra hours available.

Relief Personal Assistants Required
Lothian Centre for Inclusive Living (LCiL) is a user controlled organisation which supports disabled people, people with long-term conditions and older people, to live independently in their communities.
We are looking for locally based, self-employed Personal Assistants (PA) to join our team of PA’s across Edinburgh and the three Lothians. Our PA’s are available on an ad-hoc basis, who support people at our workshops and peer support groups.
The role can include:
- meeting and welcoming people as they arrive
- serving refreshments
- assisting them with lunch
- assistance with note taking or written tasks as required
We welcome applications from people who are reliable and attentive, non-judgemental and can work discreetly. Good communication skills are essential. Experience is not essential as training can be provided.
Hours required are generally during the daytime eg. 10am until 2.30pm and PA’s are paid an hourly rate of £9.75.

Ideally, we are looking for male support workers (this is a genuine occupational requirement) who are car drivers and/or someone who could support our son with his learning (reading in particular) so this role may be of interest to student teachers (not limited to males).
The post requires 4-10 hours per week, particularly after school and weekends.
Additional hours will become available during non-term time.
Rate of pay £9.33/hour.
Area: Roslin. On the 37 Lothian Buses route, short walk from 15/47 bus route. Also on the East Coast Bus 140 route.
