Training for PAs

This 2 day course aims to give participants an understanding of Disability Equality issues and an insight into the role of a Personal Assistant. The course covers:

Day 1 - Disability Equality Training

  • Models of Disability
  • Language (Word Power)
  • Cultural Representations of Disabled People
  • Barriers Disabled People face

Day 2 - Role and Responsibilities of a PA

  • The Seven Needs of Independence
  • Determining and exploring the role of a PA
  • Factors in a good working relationship
  • Identifying the practical differences between 'care' and 'personal assistance'

This course would suit anyone interested in developing their understanding of what is involved in being Personal Assistant to a Disabled Employer. A certificate of attendance will be issued to participants on the second day of the training.

Please note: Although the training is free a £10.00 returnable deposit is required to secure your place.
