Free Training for Disabled People
The Training Service was developed to meet the training requirements of disabled people interested in Independent Living and Direct Payments. We divide our training programme into 3 main categories. These are:
- Living Choices (Direct Payments & Independent Living courses)
- Confidence Skills
- Employer Skills
LCiL also offer training on equality issues such as Disability Equality Training and will be introducing a new course this year aimed at ensuring disabled employers understand the implications of the Equalities duties on them as employers as well as equipping them with the necessary skills to develop their own Equalities Policy
Living Choices - Direct Payments and Independent Living courses
These courses are designed to equip participants with the information and skills to make choices about Independent Living. They include courses for disabled people, people with Learning Difficulties and parents/guardians.
Confidence Skills workshops
These workshops are designed to offer disabled people the opportunity to explore barriers to developing their self confidence and determine practical ways of addressing these. Workshop topics include Assertiveness, Self-Esteem and Communication Skills.
Employer Skills workshops
These workshops are designed to enable existing/potential disabled employers to develop the necessary skills to be effective and lawful employers. Topics include Safe Recruitment, Health and Safety and Being a Good Boss.
