The Employer skills workshops are designed to enable existing/potential disabled employers to develop the necessary skills to be effective and lawful employers.
Staff Appraisal (Supporting your staff)
These workshops aim to:
- Offer practical guidance on how to support, and get the best from, your staff
- Enable Disabled People to develop their self confidence with regard to supervising staff in an assertive way
- Make disabled employers aware of the advantages of working to 'good practice' guidelines
This course would suit Disabled People who will be supervising their own staff or who want to find out what is involved.
Health & Safety (In your home)
These workshops aim to:
- Assist you to assess how safe your own home is
- Identify simple, practical steps to help you comply with statutory obligations when employing staff
This course would suit Disabled Employers who wish to find out more or refresh/update their knowledge of their obligations.
Staff Induction (Guiding new staff)
These workshops aim to:
- Offer practical advice and information about staff induction.
- Enable the employer to devise clear guidelines and expectations with regard to the role of new staff
This course would suit Disabled People who have/are in the process of employing new staff.
Safe Recruitment
These workshops aim to offer the opportunity to:
- Gain awareness of what constitutes good and safe practice with regard to recruitment of PAs
- Explore recruitment procedures with particular regard to application forms, references, interview techniques and an awareness of the role of the Disclosure process
This workshop would suit Disabled People who are, or wish to become, employers of PAs.
Being a Good Boss
These workshops aim to:
- Explore what skills are needed to make a 'good' boss
- Explore how you can put this into practice
- Trouble-shoot potentially difficult employment scenarios
This workshop would suit Disabled People who are, or wish to become, employers of PAs. It is equally suitable for experienced employers as for prospective employers, as it provides the chance to reflect on existing and future practice.
Fair Enough? (Equality & Diversity Matters)
This course aims to develop awareness and understanding of good employment practice in relation to diversity and equality by:
- Providing opportunities to identify, understand and challenge discrimination
- Developing a basic knowledge of relevant legislation
- Developing clear and simple guidelines for good practice, based on this knowledge and understanding
This training would suit existing, or potential, PA employers, or any Disabled People who require an understanding of employment legislation and good practice with regard to equality and diversity issues (eg race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, faith/religious belief, disability etc.)
Love Your Admin!
These workshops aim to support Direct Payment recipients/PA employers to:
- understand the benefits of putting an effective administrative system in place
- Identify what is needed to do this
- gain further understanding and familiarity with the key forms necessary to each administrative section
This training would suit PA employers who want to find out about the paperwork necessary when managing a Direct Payment package.
Payroll & Related Topics
These sessions aim to:
- Offer information about using our payroll service, how to manage your payroll and other statutory requirements relating to being an employer.
This session would suit Disabled People who are, or wish to become, employers. These sessions are held on an 'as and when needed' basis to reflect changes in law/employer responsibilities
