TOWARDS A GOOD LIFE, TOWARDS AN EQUAL LIFE
Tuesday 25 June 2013
Forward Mid, a Midlothian-based disabled people’s forum, is taking a lead role in this event which is bringing disabled people and professionals together to launch Midlothian Physical Disability Strategy 2013-2015. There will be an information session on Welfare Reform, then an overview of current activities that have come from the Strategy’s Action Plan. This will include a short film, followed by a working lunch. The afternoon will consist of spending time in mixed groups of disabled people and professionals. This will enable participants to look at ways of working together to enable disabled people to lead a full and independent life. Make connections around areas of interest and plan for more future successes! Taking place at: Loanhead Miners 11.15am – 3.00pm To book a place, or for further information about this event, please contact either: Jayne Lewis, Midlothian Council 0131 271 3665 Eric Johnstone, Forward Mid 0131 663 9471 Jayne.lewis@midlothian.gov.uk Eric.johnstone@mvacvs.org.uk
Scottish Government guidance on Self Directed Support – opportunity to have your say
Wednesday 26 June 2013
The Self Directed Support (Scotland) Act gained Royal Assent on 10 January this year. The Act will quite radically change the way people eligible for care/support will be offered a package of support. Scottish Government has written guidance for Councils on how they should implement the new statutory duties that the Act will give them. We invite you to an event, on Wednesday 26 June 2013, to gather your views and ideas on what the guidance should include. The consultation event will begin at 10.30, finish at 15.00 and include a one hour break for a buffet lunch. We will take you through this on the day, but if you would like to read the guidance please go to: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2013/04/7003 Places are limited, so please book early. Completed booking forms must be returned to LCiL by Wednesday 19 June 2013.
