Job ref TP WN ML, Female personal assistant urgently required

The aim of the job is to provide assistance to an elderly lady with dementia.

The job will involve keeping her mind active and ensuring her safety as well as offering emotional support and aiding her memory.

The job is based near Temple and there is no public transport so the post holder will need access to their own transport.

Experience of working with disabled people is desirable but not essential. Training in moving and assisting would also be beneficial although training will be provided.

Since the post holder will be working one to one with the elderly lady it is vital that they be able to work on their own initiative and be self motivating.

It is impossible to list all the tasks that will need to be carried out but the following are some examples:
• Assistance getting in and out of bed
• Assistance with dressing and undressing.
• Assistance with eating and drinking.
• Assistance with toileting and personal care.
• Assistance during leisure activities, such as board games, dominos, etc.
• Assistance going out, for example going out for a coffee.
• Assistance with walking.
• Food preparation.
• Any other reasonable tasks.


The post will be 1.30 pm until 4pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. There may be occasional overtime.

The rate of pay is £8.75 per hour. There is likely to be a bonus of up to £100 per month.

Job Ref: CB265 Personal Assistant Required by disabled man in Gorebridge

Closing date: 31st May 2013

Staff required (male/female) to assist disabled man living in Gorebridge, Midlothian, approximately 30 minutes from Edinburgh city centre, with personal care, domestic tasks, and social activities, daytime, evening, sleepover, and weekend shifts available. Full driving licence essential. No experience required.

Approximately 25+ basic hours plus 2 sleepover shifts per week

Successful applicants are required to provide a PVG disclosure at the employers cost.

Rate of pay: £8.75 per hour / £34.00 per sleepover.

Young girl with Asperger’s requires Personal Assistant – Gorebridge Job Ref SMC WN ML

PA required to assist young girl with social activities such as swimming, shopping, sports, cinema, etc.
Will need support to ensure her safety – e.g. crossing the road safely, travelling on the bus, dealing with large crowds.

Driver essential and willing to use own vehicle . Must be reliable.

The post:
Eight hours per week. Shifts will normally be on Monday to Friday with one shift in the evening. Occasional weekend work. Some flexibility required.

Additional ad hoc hours may be available to cover holidays/sickness.
Rate of pay: £8.75 per hour.

Applicant will be expected to register on the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) Scheme.

Job Ref ND LM Childminder/Support Worker Required – Roslin Area

We are seeking an experienced local childminder/babysitter to care for our 13 month old baby .

Duties would include:
• Feeding breakfast
• Dressing
• Playing/entertaining

You will need to be empathetic with our 9 year old son who has Fragile X Syndrome & autism – experience in dealing with children with additional needs would be welcome but not essential.

You will need to be able to travel to Roslin, so local person/car driver preferred.

Hours: 6.30am to 8.30am 2 days a week starting in January 2013
Additional hours may be available.

You will be required to work 6-9 hours per week
Rate of pay £8.75/hour
Additional hours will become available during the school holidays

Area: Roslin. On the 15 Lothian Buses route, short walk from 37/47 bus route. Also on the First Bus 141 route. This bus stops at Queen Margaret University Campus.
