Job Ref: RC-SDWL Part-time Female Personal Assistant required (Dedridge Livingston area) GOR
Permanent positions, paid annual leave
Closing date: 8/10/19
Fantastic opportunity for a Personal Assistant/s to work with my bright, creative and fun daughter (ASD/PTSD) both in our home and out and about in the local community. The post would involve supporting my daughter to manage daily tasks/routines, have fun going on short local outings and building confidence with social interactions. The personal assistant will need to work with my daughter to maintain personal safety, encourage to interact with others and work towards greater understanding of own emotions. Due to the nature of my daughter’s difficulties there will need to be a fair period of getting to know and understand each other and how to work with one another. It is so important that anyone applying is a good listener, empathetic and very patient.
My daughter loves animals, being creative, puzzles, music, science and reading. As well as supporting her to develop independent living skills it is hoped a personal assistant would have fun encouraging these interests both in the home and by supporting her to attend local groups and activities when appropriate.
The role may also include some personal care elements, in particular encouraging routine, and personal independence in self-care. My daughter is currently not in full time education and depending on hours the role may include supporting and supervising the completion of school work/learning activities.
Driver’s license and access to a car would be very beneficial but not essential.
Hours: 8 hours per week. The hourly rate of pay is £9.
Shifts: Flexible, willing to work with applicant to look at shift patterns but would ideally include some weekend work.
Essential criteria: Flexibility is vital in this role as shifts could vary to meet employer’s needs. Must be reliable, trustworthy, conscientious, patient, friendly and easy-going, empathic, punctual, good communication skills and sense of humour, non-judgemental, flexible and energetic.
Note: The post is subject to successful PVG Scheme check and if you are not member you will be asked to join before formal offer could be made.
