What is LCIL?

The Lothian Centre for Integrated Living is a user led organisation established in 1991 to provide a range of practical services to disabled adults in the Lothian region.It is managed and staffed by a partnership of disabled and non disabled people. Over half the Board of Directors are disabled people.

We believe that disabled people have the right and the potential to manage their own lives and participate equally in every aspect of community life.

LCIL's aims are:-

• - to provide a range of services to support independent

  living,developed and managed by and for disabled people

• - to support the right of disabled people to live

  independently, take control of their own lives and

  further their own personal and professional development

• - to promote the social inclusion and individual choice

  of disabled people

• - to challenge the attitudes, and the physical and social

  barriers that create disability

LCIL's objectives are:-

• - to provide information, support and training services to disabled people to enable them to set up their own independent living

  packages

• - to provide a fully accessible peer counselling service provided by and for disabled people

• - to provide a payroll service for disabled people who employ their own support staff

• - to provide training opportunities to those wishing to be employed as personal assistants

• - to provide an opportunity for disabled people to undertake counselling training

LCIL membership

Involvement of members and centre users is essential in maintaining that LCIL's services are user led. Please join our membership. The cost is £1.00 for individuals, and £10.00 for organisations. If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact one of the staff at LCIL to arrange this.
